Our Horror movie age rating BBFC 
The group have come to the conclusion that our short film should have an age 15 rating. We have come to this conclusion simply due to the fact that their is a considerable amount of violence including the rape of the main protagonists.
We feel that 15 is the appropriate age because the target audience is likely to have  a good understanding of the plot and can differentiate between fiction and reality and will not take the film literally.
However, this would not be the case if decided to give the film a lower rating such as 12A this particular group of fans must be accompanied by an adult therefore, they are not yet old enough to view  scenes which are contained within the film.
We are fully aware of the fact that if we did choose to got for a slightly lower age rating ( such as 12A) we would increase the likelihood of generating more revenue because the younger  members of the target audience  who desire to view the film must be accompanied by an adult therefore they will  both  have to purchase a ticket which would mean that more money is generated in comparison to a teenager who is over the minimum  age requirement due to the fact that they would only require one ticket.
However we have decided not to do this because we would have to change a large proportion of the films content and the money, time and effort needed to complete this task is not guaranteed to be subsidised by the the revenue generated by ticket sales.
