Ms Hiltunen

In this blog, I will be showing various shots of my group work and explain whether the scenes conform or subvert to the general conventions of a horror themed movie.

For this particular scene, we have chosen to have  a single protagonist which is very unusual for a horror movie because the characters are normally in groups of 5 and above therefore, this subverts to the general convention of a horror movie.
However, we chose to conform to the general horror movie convention by setting our story in the woods at midnight because we felt as if it would allow the viewer to instantly recognise the nature of this short film.

For this scene, we chose to somewhat subvert the general stereotype in the sense that we actually had people present in the room rather than just having the room filled with  darkness  and uncertainty but, I feel as if the nature of the people within the room (  mentally challenged people ) conformed to the general conventions.

This shot was taken as a montage purely to show the progression of the time which was designed to make the time that the character has spent in the room seem a lot longer.

For this scene, we once again  chose to conform to the dark and mysterious stereotype where the villain was finally revealed to give our project a very scary and abrupt ending
