Film opening sequence
From the research conducted in class, we noticed a very unique pattern that appeared in both of the film opening regarding the sequence in which the names the most significant roles such as :
- The leading actor
- Director
- Soundtrack editor
- general editor
- 2nd leading actor
- Costume designer
appeared in we also discovered that the name of the film was not necessarily the first thing that appeared on the screen and we applied this to our own film opening.
Our film opening was a lot shorter than generic film openings mainly due to the fact that we have a lot less actors and we did not need certain roles such as costume designers and soundtrack editors. Therefore, we had a lot more time to add more information in terms of content which aids the audience in getting a feel of the movie and perhaps making early assumptions as to what exactly may happen in the later stages of the film.
As time went, on I discovered that the fact we had slightly more time to fill with content in comparison with a normal film opening didn't necessarily work in our favour because we tended to overload the introduction with a great deal of information which of course gave the movie away which could potentially have a catastrophic effect on our profit margins if the film was released to the public because once members of the target audience had seen the movie trailer filled with this information ( which is free to view ) they would have no reason to pay to see the film ( whether it is in the cinema, on Blu-ray or DVD ) whatsoever because they would have already seen the best parts of the film.
